1.Where are Wi-Fi places in the center of Kharkov?
There are cafes and restaurants where you use Wi-Fi connection. Some of them are free of charge, some are paid. Full list of such places and their locations you can find at the map of Kharkov.
2.What currency can I pay?
Official state currency since 1996 is hryvna. We have money bills by nominal values 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 hryvnas and small change coins by nominal values 1,2,5,10,25,50 kopecks. Payments on the territory of Ukraine are realized only in national currency (hryvnas). You may change your currency for hryvnas at exchange posts scattered all over the city and at banks. You can get cash for your travel checks in some banks. Credit cards are taken for payment in large hotels, restaurants and shops.
3.Can I pay by credit cards?
You can pay by your cards in many local cafes and restaurants. Or you can easily take money from a credit card through ATM, there are a lot of them in the center of Kharkov and in supermarkets, big shops. Visa and MasterCard are preferable. Usually there is no problem to take money from a credit card through ATM. But sometimes foreigners expect problems, for example, if the currency of their cards is not dollar or euro. Also we would advise you to notify your banks about visiting Ukraine if you are going to use your credit/debit cards here. Sometimes foreign banks block cards of their clients when they see suspect withdrawal of money.
4.How can I order taxi?
There are a lot of taxi services in Kharkov, but all of them are served by Russian speaking operators. Just in case, here are telephones of some taxi services:
